Moving from desktop software

A year of Studio costs less than most desktop licences cost to start.

Professional desktop digitizing suites cost $700 to $4,000 to buy, and several then charge $190 to $1,490 a year to stay current. Studio is $390 a year with nothing to pay up front, runs on Mac, Windows and Chromebook, and updates for everyone.

  • Bring your DST files. They open stitch for stitch, and can be rebuilt as shapes you can resize.
  • Keep your machines. Seven formats out, with trims written the way your machine cuts.
  • Keep your paperwork. Run sheets, names proofs and a price per piece at your shop's own rates.

Questions

Do free machine files carry a watermark?

No. A free account exports exactly the same files a paid one does, in all seven formats.

What happens to my designs if I stop paying?

They stay in your account and keep opening, editing and exporting. Over the free allowance of ten, you cannot start a new design until you are back under it.

Can I start on Free and upgrade later?

Yes. A plan changes what your account can do, not where your work lives, so nothing moves when you upgrade.
